Frequently Asked Therapy Questions
Specialty
We treat and support a variety of mental health challenges. However, we specialize in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, and attachment wounds.
How does the process work?
1. Look around and review our services and rates.
Take a look around our website. Determine which service you’re interested in and identify your monthly budget for therapy in case our standard rate isn’t feasible for you. While fee reductions aren’t guaranteed, we will communicate any financial relief that may be available. Remember, therapy is an investment, and this is your experience. Grab a journal and write down any questions you have so that during your consultation, we can focus on what matters most to you!
2. Let’s talk! Schedule a complimentary 15-minute consult or send us a message.
Book a consultation to see if our therapist is a good fit for you. Finding a therapist whose style works for you is essential to your healing process. This is an opportunity to briefly get to know one another, see if you vibe, discuss what brings you to therapy, and review your treatment options. You’ll also discuss fees and any reduced rates that may apply. All reduced agreements will be finalized during the consultation and confirmed with a signed contract before your first session. At the end of your consult, we’ll ensure your needs align with our therapist’s expertise.
3. If you are a good fit, we will schedule a 50-minute session.
Your first session will be different from future visits. The initial visit is a chance for you and the therapist to get to know each other better and discuss how to proceed. Future visits will be more therapeutic in nature.
4. From there, you will have ongoing weekly sessions.
In these sessions, you and the therapist will explore symptoms, problems, and/or past traumas. Sessions from the second one onward are the healing process—where the well is made.
5. Letting go.
The termination process typically takes place over three sessions. Ending therapy often brings a deep sense of pride for both you and the therapist but can also feel sad. The therapeutic relationship is built on trust, which is significant. Ending that relationship can be difficult. Therapy is an experience with a lasting impact on both you and the therapist. When successful, termination is an opportunity for closure. Together, you and the therapist will take a step back to reflect on the personal growth that has unfolded throughout treatment—growth that may have gone unnoticed without this attention.
Private Pay
We do not accept insurance, but we’re committed to keeping our rates affordable.
Choosing to pay privately allows for greater confidentiality and flexibility in your care. When using insurance, providers are required to share your records with the insurance company, and a formal mental health diagnosis must be submitted to justify treatment—this becomes part of your permanent medical record.
Private pay means that the details of your treatment stay solely between you and your therapist. You have full control over the frequency, length, and focus of your sessions, without limitations or oversight from insurance companies. This is especially important for those seeking relationship therapy, which is often not covered by insurance at all.
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover).
If you’re looking to use insurance, we’re happy to refer you to trusted providers in our service areas who accept it.
How do you choose your therapy rates?
Our private pay rates reflect the quality, specialization, and level of care provided. Rates are based on several factors, including the therapist’s credentials, advanced training, certifications, and years of clinical experience—particularly in the specialized treatment of trauma and PTSD.
We also consider the personalized nature of the services offered, along with current market rates in the areas we serve. Our goal is to offer expert, individualized care at a rate that is both fair and competitive.
Reduced Fees
We are committed to creating a more equitable and accessible private practice. To support this vision, we intentionally offer a reduced rate for clients who qualify, ensuring that quality care remains within reach for those who need it most.
Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost in advance. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend a scheduled therapy session, please cancel via the online portal, messenger, or email at least 24 business hours in advance. Otherwise, the full session fee will be charged.
Charging for no-shows and late cancellations is standard practice in therapy. This policy accounts for reserving a time slot that cannot be offered to others on short notice.
Duration and Frequency
All therapy services are personalized to meet your unique needs. Because of this individualized approach, the length and frequency of sessions will vary based on your presenting issues and goals.
Typically, weekly sessions are recommended for at least 4–6 weeks. This timeframe allows for a thorough assessment, development of a strong therapeutic relationship, and the introduction of coping strategies to support your well-being inside and outside of therapy.
If weekly sessions are not feasible initially, we will work together to create a plan that fits your schedule and needs.
As progress is made and symptoms improve, biweekly sessions may be recommended. However, you always have the freedom to continue weekly sessions if that feels best for you. Your well-being and preferences guide the process.
Want to accelerate the process?
Private pay clients have the option to schedule longer sessions or more than one session per week. This flexibility can lead to faster results and greater support on your healing journey.
